Robinia - Acacia - Robinia Pseudoacacia.

The Robinia or Acacia has very good natural characteristics for outside

use without any chemical treatment (See EN 350-2:1998)

Especially with direct soil contact where the durability according to

research by Dr. Molnár S., Dr. Bariska M.:

(Industrial wood species in Hungary) - can be 25 - 40 years.

The high grade of durability is due to the cell structure of the wood.

It is:

  - Weather resistant, long lifetime outside

  - Useful with direct soil contact

  - Good mechanical results (strong)

  - Nature friendly, no chemicals

Main product groups are:

  - Poles (pointed, debarked, sawn, edges broken)

  - Outside decking, stepping elements

Plant pots - Half barrels - Robinia / False Acacia.

Dimensions outside:  Type 1) Diam. 31 cm - Height 31 cm  (15L)

Dimensions outside:  Type 2) Diam. 41 cm - Height 41 cm  (40L)
Dimensions outside:  Type 3) Diam. 55 cm - Height 41 cm  (70L)

Normally sold as a set - type 1+2+3.

The barrels can be delivered with a irrigation system where the plants themself suck the water from the partly water filled barrel.

Plants / flowers will then have water for a period of 2-4 weeks depending the weather and the plants.

Irrigation-system

Wooden flower - pots are attractive, light and endurable. Wood is a bad conductor of heat, therefore earth is not dried up overheated or cooled too fast. There is a stable temperature and humidity in the root system, which ensures extremely good conditions for the growth of flowers - it is practically impossible to achieve in case of plastic or pottery pots.

Robinia wood  is due to its high durability in contact with soil/water, one of the best wood species that can be used for producing outside things as barrels, poles, deckings, playgrounds, garden furniture etc.

Robinia is stronger and last longer outside than Oak.

GARDEN FURNITURE IN ROBINIA

Existence of Robinia - (Robinia Pseudoacacia).

Robinia was introduced from Central America to the European Continent aprox. 400 years ago.

Today the largest driven forest areas are placed in the Eastern part of Hungary.

(FSC controlled)

Its widespread occurence and very good technical properties with regard to resistence against fungis/rod when using outside, makes it a perfect choice for the production of exterior products such as garden furniture/ plant pots etc.

Even when permanently out of doors and in contact with the soil, robinia wood is durable for at least 25 years. Robinia is classified as belonging to Resistance Class 1 in the EN standard for wood - it is defined as "very durable".

Robinia an sustainable wood resource.

Robinia also called the false acacia distinguish itself from the tropical forest species by being a specie that are grown under controlled conditions and further to that - it´s grown here in the EU.

So it is possible to have an alternative to the typical tropical grown species as Teak/Iroko/Meranti etc. that often comes from not sustainable areas/sources.

Remember that demand create need!

About the Tree

From the end of May to the beginning  of June, the robinia flowers attracts bees from miles around and contributes to another large and tasty product from Hungary – Acacia Honey!

The tree which grows up to 30 metres high is characterised by its rapid growth of up to 12 m3 per hectare per year and is one of the world's most commonly cultivated deciduous trees. In addition to providing wood, they also increase the nitrogen content of the soil and reliably stabilise steep slopes such as on waste tips.

Handmade

Building furniture with robinia wood requires high levels of carpentry skill and that is one of the reasons why the specie is not used as much in the garden furniture production (not suitable for automatic line production).

No short cuts have been taking when building the furniture: all the joints are made using the traditional mortise and tenon method. And where metal fittings and connections make sense, only sand-blasted stainless steel is used.

The furniture need to be seen and tried out - in order to sense their high quality and design!
